Printing and Layouts

Open the Print Layout Editor by clicking the Print Layout shortcut button in the main window, or from File > Photobooth Settings > Edit layout….

Printer setup

Click Printer Setup… to select your printer, page size, orientation, and resolution. For borderless printing on 4×6 paper, click Center page to set margins automatically after selecting the printer and resolution.

Click Test Print to print a calibration page with rulers — measure the top, bottom, left, and right margins from the rulers and enter them in the dialog.

Preset layouts

Click Preset layouts… to select from common arrangements: double strip, single strip, 1 large + 3 small, 2×2 grid, and others. Adjust margins and spacing, then click OK to apply.

Editing photo positions

Click a photo to select it (shown with a dashed red border). Then:

  • Move — drag the centre of the photo, or use arrow keys (hold Shift for 10px steps)
  • Resize — drag a corner handle (aspect ratio is preserved by default; hold Shift to resize freely)
  • Rotate — drag the handle at the end of the centre dashed line, or hold Ctrl and press arrow keys

Select all photos with Ctrl+A. Right-click a selected photo for alignment, spacing, and ordering options (Move to front, Move to back, etc.).

Click the button next to an image slot on the left panel to enter exact pixel position, size, and rotation, and to apply compositing effects. See Print Layout FX.

QR codes

Select QR code from an image dropdown to add a QR code to the layout. Right-click the QR code and select Edit QR code… to enter the URL or text. Tokens can be used in the QR code text, e.g. https://mygallery.com/view/{uid}.

Captions

Click Edit captions… to add or edit text captions. Configure the caption text, font, colour, position, angle, and alignment.

Available tokens in captions include %d (date), %t (time), {comment}, {filename}, {uid}, survey tokens, and many others. See the Tokens reference for a full list.

Captions support word-wrap using Line word wrap length and Maximum number of lines settings.

Background image

Place a JPEG named background.jpg in the photo booth images folder to use it as the print background. Import it by clicking Import background… or by dragging and dropping a JPEG into the editor window. The background is centred on the page.

Overlay

Place a 24-bit PNG with an alpha channel named overlay.png in the photo booth images folder to overlay graphics on top of photos. Import via Import overlay… or drag and drop. The overlay is centred and stretched to fill the page if smaller.

Logos

Click Import logo… to import a PNG or JPEG logo. Logos are copied into the photo booth images folder with a logo_ prefix and can be moved, resized, and rotated like photos.

Background/overlay filename suffix

Set a suffix in Output Settings to use different backgrounds and overlays per session. Supports tokens such as {random,1,3} to randomly select from background1.jpg, background2.jpg, or background3.jpg.

Exporting and importing layouts

  • Export layout… — saves the layout including background and overlay to a .pblt file
  • Import layout… — loads a previously exported layout
