Live View Overlay
An optional overlay image can be displayed over the live view in full screen photo booth mode. Uses include:
- Fun effects such as superimposing a costume body over the user’s head
- Custom borders and frames around the live view
- Alignment guides for passport or ID photos
The overlay must be a PNG file with transparency in the alpha channel, saved in the photo booth images folder.
Stills photo booth mode
Name the file live_view_overlay.png. It must have a 3:2 aspect ratio (e.g. 960×640 pixels) to match the live view from most recent Canon cameras in photo mode.
If the aspect ratio does not match the live view, the overlay is stretched to fit and may appear distorted.
Video booth mode
Name the file video_live_view_overlay.png. It must match the selected video resolution — normally 16:9 (e.g. 1024×576 pixels).
If boomerang GIFs using the camera’s photo mode are selected, the live view uses a 3:2 aspect ratio.
Ready screen overlay
An additional overlay can be displayed over the ready screen using ready_overlay.png. See Interface Screens for details.
Green screen integration
Overlays can be combined with Green Screen Shooting to add foreground elements or mock-up effects such as magazine cover frames over the replaced background.
