Animated GIFs

Remote Pro can create animated GIFs from photo booth sequences. Two types are available:

  • Slideshow GIF — plays the sequence of photos in order, in a continuous loop
  • Boomerang GIF — plays photos forward then backward for a ping-pong effect

Slideshow GIFs

A slideshow GIF is created automatically from the photos in a photo booth shooting sequence. Enable it in Photo Booth Settings > Output Settings.

Settings:

  • GIF frame width — width of each frame in pixels
  • Frame delay — time each photo is displayed (in 1/100 sec)
  • Number of loops — how many times the GIF loops (0 = infinite)
  • Background image — optionally use background.jpg as the GIF background
  • Overlay — optionally overlay overlay.png on each frame

Boomerang GIFs

Boomerang GIFs play the photo sequence forwards then backwards. Enable in Output Settings and configure frame size and speed.

GIFs from video booth mode

Video booth mode can capture a series of still frames from the live view and compile them into an animated GIF. Select Capture clip as a series of still frames (without sound) in the Video Booth Settings dialog.

Key settings:

  • Number of frames — total frames to capture (5–10 works well for 1–2 sec clips)
  • Capture rate (frames/capture) — how often to save a live view frame. At ~12fps live view, a rate of 5 saves one frame every ~0.4 sec
  • Playback rate — time each frame displays in the GIF (in 1/100 sec). Match to capture rate for normal speed; increase for slow motion
  • Forward/reverse ping-pong playback — plays forward then backward before repeating
  • Use camera’s photo mode — captures frames at 960×640 (photo mode) rather than 1024×576 (video mode)
